Use + care

Our best tips to keep your new flatware looking good for years to come.

  • Before your first use

Your new flatware needs a good wash before using – use a mild detergent and dry immediately with a soft cloth.

  • Washing by hand

When hand washing, dry immediately to prevent water spots – and don’t leave stainless steel soaking in water for any extended period of time.

  • Washing in your dishwasher

Our premium 18/10 and 18/0 stainless steel is dishwasher safe, but don’t leave your flatware to air dry in a hot humid dishwasher. Use the dry cycle if you can’t remove your flatware after the cycle has finished. Make sure the cutlery basket in your dishwasher is not placed near the heating element – the heat can cause ‘heat stains’ on stainless steel.

  • Detergents

Powdered dishwashing detergents are not recommended, as the loose powder can sit on stainless steel and cause permanent staining.

  • Spots or stains

If you do get spots or stains from minerals in your water or undissolved detergents, use a non abrasive kitchen cleanser (like Vim Cream cleanser or Soft Scrub) on a damp non-abrasive scouring sponge and give your flatware a good rinse.

  • Don’t mix metals

Stainless steel should not be washed with other metals (such as decorative silver plates) as the mix of both metals can tarnish silver or have unintended effects on other metals.
